Webinar
I attended a webinar conducted by Dr. Abernathy Sunday March 27, 2011. This was the first webinar I have attended, it was interesting. We talked about Web 2,0 and other technologies available. The webinar also answered some important questions that students needed to be answered. I was amazed that over 1400 students attend Lamar University educational school

District Technology Action Plan
The technology plans for state and local district provide a road map needed for assessment of campus improvement. Using the STaR chart for evaulation and of assessment of campus improvementand Cscope for alignment and execution of curriculum we can assess and track all improvements.The purchase of Mimeios and Clickers and another computer lab will be helpful in our progress.All teacher must attend In-services and or technology training to bolster their knowledge. The district will need to hire another assisstant technology director to trouble shoot any problem they may arise from our new lab.
the district will introduce a teacher/student survey to measure, manage, and improve teacher/student technology training. this survey will be an all encompassing evauation of teacher/student knowledge and needs. Based on the training received in teacher in service and teacher technology conferences, the teacher will be asked to submit lesson plans that reflect and incorporate the knowledge gained by the training. This information will be used to formualate a data bank for teacher student technology knowledge of the district.
The district based on these survey will gain the knowledge needed to offer and enhance a more comprehensive technology effort by the district.

Progress Report
Progress Report
To reach the goals of this Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020, strategies must be put
in place that can be accomplished and measured over time. The recommendations for Teaching
and Learning; Educator Preparation and Development; Leadership, Administration and
Instructional Support; and infrastructure for Technology implemented together will help realize
the overarching vision of the plan by 2020.
This plan is to be phased in under three sections over time. Phase I is in place with Phase II and phase III.
Phase I 2006-2010
To reach the goals of this Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020, strategies must be put
in place that can be accomplished and measured over time. The recommendations for Teaching
and Learning; Educator Preparation and Development; Leadership, Administration and
Instructional Support; and infrastructure for Technology implemented together will help realize

Phase I 2006-2010
- Continue to refine and align curriculum content standards to reflect current research and
meet the needs of the 21st Century workplace and higher education. - Provide equitable access to technology tools for students and teachers, such as student
and teacher workstations, productivity tools, online resources, interactive whiteboards,
projection systems, and printers - Provide adequate connectivity in schools and classrooms to ensure effective use of
technology resources - Increase the Technology Allotment to at least $50 per student per year and fund from
the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund

Executive Summary
Executive Summary
Technology is one of the keys to America’s economic growth and prosperity and to our ability to compete in the global economy. It is the path to good jobs and higher education and earning power for Americans. It fosters the cross-cultural collaboration required to solve the most challenging problems of our time.
Under the present administration, education has become an urgent priority driven by two clear goals. By 2020,
• The government needs to raise the proportion of college graduates from 15 to 60% of our population holds a 2-year or 4-year degree.
• We will close the achievement gap so that all students regardless of race, income, or neighborhood – graduate from high school ready to succeed in college and careers.
These are aggressive goals and achieving them is a sizable challenge. Add to the challenge the projections of most states and the federal government of reduced revenues for the foreseeable future, and it is clear the government needs to be cost-effective with strategies that improve learning outcomes and graduation rates for millions of Americans.
Specifically, we must initiate innovation, prompt implementation, regular evaluation, and continuous improvement. The programs and projects that work must be brought to scale so every school has the opportunity to take advantage of that success.

Texas Long Range Technology Plan
As students have grown up, the technology use of the students has also grown. Students today have technology surrounding them constantly. These students can do a multiple of things with technology. Teachers however, lag far behind their student in the technology department. The older more experienced teacher are baffled and confused by all the technology. We as educators must provide all teachers with the tools to promote education for all students.
Long Range Technological goals and recommendations are:
TEA
· Require and support high quality professional development for teachers in the technology area.
· Promote professional development in the areas of instruction to the teachers.
· Require district to submit annually the teachers that meet the SBEC standards in technology. Require teacher to make significant advances in technology for the STAR chart
State Board of Educator Certification
· Continue to revise and update requirements for teacher preparation and integration into the introduction and implementation of technology into the classroom.
· Align technology implementations with SBEC standards
· Continue to support educator on line learning that leads to certification
Regional Service Centers
· Disseminate information on technology integration
· Provide standardize Professional development on the implementation of technology TEKS for all areas
· Use online computers systems to update and integrate technology in to professional development.
· Provide districts with the means to evaluate their teacher technology certifications
Recommendations for Local Education Agencies
· Provide standardize Professional development on the implementation of technology TEKS for all areas
· Align technology implementations with SBEC standards
· Encourage teacher participation in Master technology certifications.
My recommendations would include a state wide mandate that teachers at all levels must complete a state standard online test on technology in order to be able to use a computer at school. The test would start with the basic level testing and advance through to an elevated level. At each level the teacher could acquire new technologies as the teacher advances through the levels of advancement.
